Nature demands a place at the table as an equal to the human, who’s supposed to rule the setting. The frog has shaken off its decorative function and gently requests to become part of the conversation.
In many works Jongerius deals with the relationship between users and their products. In Frog Table the frog functions as an intermediary. The decoration has become an almost autonomous 3D figure, who will not be ignored at your table.
In many of her works, Jongerius engages with animals and the unequal relationship humans have established with them. She believes that dismantling the prevailing hierarchy between humans, plants, animals and objects would have a healing effect
