At CasaVitra during Salone del Mobile Milano 2016, visitors encounter giant spinning tops twirling on the floor, representing the past ten years of collaboration between Jongeriuslab and Vitra on the company’s colour and material library. All Vitra materials are mapped out in four colour worlds: lights, darks, greens and reds. These four worlds form the fundament of the library, organising textiles, plastics, wood and colours in many sizes and shapes. Over these tops, nine colour wheels are suspended that revolve in space. The wheels celebrate particular parts of iconic furniture by contemporary and classic Vitra designers, each in their signature colours. Visitors are invited to explore and combine colours and textures by spinning the wheels and touching the fabrics and materials.
